This Privacy Policy describes the information we collect when you use the Site, how we use and share that information, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to all visitors and users of the Site.

What’s in this Policy

Information We Collect

Server Logs & Technical Data

When you visit the Site, our servers and content delivery network automatically log standard request data. This information is generally not used to identify you personally on its own, and may include:

Game & Activity Data

We may store information about how you use puzzles, games, and tools on the Site, including game progress, scores, preferences, completed puzzles, and statistics. Much of this is stored locally in your browser (using cookies or local storage) so that it remains under your control. We use it to provide functionality, save your progress between sessions, and improve the Site.

Information You Provide

If you sign up for an account, subscribe to a newsletter, post a comment, or contact us, we may collect information you choose to provide, which can include:

You may choose not to provide this information, but in some cases we will be unable to deliver the corresponding service without it.

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

We do not sell your personal information for money. We do, however, share certain information with advertising partners as described below, which some U.S. state laws (including California’s) treat as a “sale” or “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes. You can opt out at any time — see California Residents and Your Rights & Choices.

Cookies & Similar Tracking Technologies

The Site uses cookies, local storage, web beacons, pixel tags, and similar technologies (collectively, “cookies”) to provide functionality, remember your preferences, analyze usage, and deliver advertising. Cookies may be set by us (“first-party”) or by partners we work with (“third-party”).

We use cookies for the following purposes:

You can control cookies through your browser settings — most browsers allow you to refuse cookies, delete existing cookies, or be notified when cookies are being set. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of the Site.

We participate in the IAB Europe Transparency & Consent Framework (TCF v2.2) and the IAB Global Privacy Platform (GPP). When you visit from a region that requires consent for advertising cookies (such as the EU, UK, or Switzerland), we present a Consent Management Platform (CMP) powered by Google Funding Choices that lets you accept or reject targeted advertising before any non-essential cookies are set.

Advertising Partners

We display advertising on the Site to support our free puzzles, games, and tools. The information shared with these partners may include your IP address, device and browser information, hashed identifiers, the content of the page you are viewing, and general location.

Primary Advertising Partners: Google Ad Manager & AdSense

We use Google Ad Manager and Google AdSense (including AdSense Auto Ads) to deliver and measure advertisements on the Site. Google and its partners may use cookies (including the “DoubleClick” cookie) and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site and other sites on the Internet. You can opt out of Google’s use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. For more information, see the Google Advertising Policy and the Google Privacy Policy.

We work with additional third-party demand partners (supply-side platforms or “SSPs”) to fill ad inventory; the complete authorized list is published in our ads.txt file.

Industry-Wide Opt-Outs for Interest-Based Advertising

You can opt out of interest-based advertising from many participating ad networks using the following industry-run tools:

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it. GA4 collects information such as the pages you view, time spent on the Site, and general device and browser characteristics. We have configured GA4 with IP anonymization where available. For more information, see the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Your Rights & Choices

Regardless of where you live, you have the following baseline choices regarding your information:

EU, UK & Swiss Users (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Union, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent UK and Swiss laws give you specific rights, including:

Our legal bases for processing personal data are: (1) your consent (for advertising cookies in regions that require consent), (2) our legitimate interests (for security, fraud prevention, basic analytics, and operating the Site), (3) performance of a contract (where you have signed up for a service), and (4) compliance with legal obligations.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].

California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) gives you the following rights:

To opt out of sale or sharing, you can send a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from a supported browser, or email us at [email protected]. We do not sell personal information of minors under 16 years of age.

Categories of personal information we collect (as defined by California law): identifiers (IP address, device identifiers), internet or other network activity (browsing history on the Site, interactions with ads), geolocation data (approximate, IP-derived), and inferences drawn from the above for purposes of advertising and Site improvement.

Children’s Privacy (COPPA)

Puzz.com is a family-friendly site, and we welcome visitors of all ages. However, in compliance with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 for purposes of registration, profile creation, or targeted advertising. We do not knowingly enable interest-based advertising to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us at [email protected] and we will take steps to delete that information.

Parents and guardians: we encourage you to be involved in your child’s online activities. You can use parental-control tools provided by most browsers and operating systems to manage what your child accesses on the Site.

Data Security & Retention

We use commercially reasonable physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect the information we collect, including HTTPS encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls, and routine security review. No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to provide the services you have requested, to comply with our legal obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce our agreements. Server logs are typically retained for a limited period (90 days or less) and then deleted or aggregated. Advertising and analytics partners apply their own retention periods, described in their respective privacy policies.

International Data Transfers

The Site is operated from the United States. If you visit from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States and any country where our service providers operate. Where required by law (including for transfers out of the EU/UK/Switzerland), we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

External Links

The Site may link to third-party websites that are not operated by us. We have no control over the content and privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to read their privacy policies.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, our advertising partners, or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (such as a banner on the Site). Your continued use of the Site after a change becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
