"37-1/2 minutes - the candle has a life of 50 minutes if lit at a single end, to burn 1/2 would be 25 minutes and then divided by half for the two ends would be 12-1/2 minutes. Add the two together to find the answer."
Puzz's Explanation: For each end burning, 2% of the candle is consumed for each minute it burns. With 2 ends burning, it is thus burning 4% per minute. With both ends burning, 50% will be consumed in 12.5 minutes. Then, it will take 25 more minutes to consume the rest with only 50% remaining.
