Introduction to the Chimera High Ability Riddle Test & Ranking Scale

The CHART (Chimera High Ability Riddle Test) was published in Thoth, the journal of the Glia High IQ Society, OATH, the journal of the One-in-a-Thousand Society, La Plume de NOM, the newsletter of New Orleans Mensa, G'Raffiti, the newsletter of the Camelopard Society, & SMOG, the newsletter of Savannah-area Mensa of Georgia. This riddle test has proven to be very popular, & continues to be taken by people all over the world. The CHART was used as an entrance test by the Collegium Society, which was founded by Dr. Greg Grove, a member of the ISPE & the Triple Nine Society. Only 1 person in 200 was believed to be able to qualify for Collegium, thus requiring a minimum raw score of 55 or above on the CHART. Unfortunately, Collegium is now defunct. The individuals who received perfect scores on this test prior to 4/22/98 had their names placed on the RIDDLER LIST, where they will remain for quite some time to come.

The table below is based on a scale published as part of a statistical report written by Paul Cooijmans. This test is biased toward Americans. If you did not grow up in the United States, you should add a few points to your score to compensate for this bias. The table is presented here for your entertainment. The percentile score given indicates the percentage of people in the general population who would be expected to score BELOW this level:
